The dining rooms are lit entirely by candlelight and there are fireplaces in each room. Comfortably worn windsor chairs and mahogany tavern tables furnish the dining rooms. The iron chandeliers and wall sconces, as well as most of the architectural features and decorative details found in the dining rooms are true to the Inn’s early history.

Recognitions

The Old Inn on the Green has been honored with numerous recognitions over the years, with commendations given to our restaurant, catering, and of course the Inn itself.

In the wintertime, there may be no more romantic American dining room than this aptly named inn, warmed by roaring fireplaces and lighted entirely by candles.  On a clear, cold night, when the air is so crisp that it crackles, nothing is as nice as walking into this golden welcome.

“On warm summer evenings, guests eat outside on the garden terrace under a white canopy. In winter, candlelit dining rooms offer cozy surroundings. Chef/owner Peter Platt designs his menu around whatever’s available from local farmers, and the food is both innovative and elegant.”

The Old Inn On The Green
Foodies have followed chef Peter Platt from his post at Wheatleigh to this rustic spot, where the focus is on the food, not formality. Superior American fare—braised lamb shank with spring vegetables and pan-roasted duck with wild rice—is served in the intimate dining rooms of this inn, which glows with candlelight.
